Privacy Policy

How we handle your personal information.

This policy explains how FixMyPC Perth (ABN 67 645 153 359) of 7 Barraberry Retreat, Canning Vale WA 6155 handles your personal information. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988. How we handle the data that sits on your device during a repair is covered in our Terms and Conditions.

1. What we collect

We collect only what we need to quote, carry out and follow up a job:

  • Contact details. Your name, phone number and, where you give one, your email address
  • Device details. Make, model, the fault you described and what we found
  • Address. Only where we are coming to you for an on-site visit
  • Job history. What we did, what it cost and when, so a warranty claim can be checked against the original repair

We do not collect date of birth, identity documents or anything else unrelated to fixing your machine.

2. How we collect it

Directly from you, in almost every case: over the phone, on WhatsApp, in person at the workshop, or through the quote form on this website.

The quote form on our site sends its contents to us by email. It is not stored in a third-party marketing system.

3. Payment information

We accept cash, bank transfer and PayID only. We do not accept cards, so we never see, handle or store card numbers.

Where you pay by transfer or PayID, your bank details appear on our bank statement in the ordinary course of business. We do not record them separately.

4. What we use it for

  • Quoting, carrying out and invoicing your repair
  • Contacting you about your device, including when it is ready
  • Honouring warranty claims
  • Meeting our record-keeping obligations, including tax

We do not send marketing emails or SMS. If that ever changes, it will be opt-in and every message will carry a way to unsubscribe.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information.

We share it only where a job requires it:

  • Specialist repairers. Where a job is outsourced for microsoldering, board level repair or advanced data recovery, as disclosed in your quote. They receive only what they need, and the same standards apply
  • Parts suppliers. Where a part is ordered for your device and needs to be shipped, which may involve your name and delivery address
  • Where the law requires it. If we are legally compelled to disclose information

6. This website

Our website uses a small number of third-party services, and each one sets its own cookies on your browser:

  • Google Analytics 4. Tells us how many people visit, which pages they read and roughly where they are. It is aggregate traffic data, not a record of you personally. Google's handling of it is covered by Google's own privacy policy
  • Google Maps. The map showing our workshop is embedded from Google and loads Google cookies when the page opens
  • WhatsApp and Facebook. Our contact buttons link to Meta services. Following one takes you to Meta, where Meta's privacy policy applies to anything you send

We do not run advertising or remarketing pixels on this site.

You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site works without them.

7. Reviews and testimonials

The reviews shown on our website come from our public Google Business Profile, where the customer chose to publish them. We display first names only.

If you would like a review of yours removed from our website, tell us and we will take it down. Removing it from Google itself can only be done by you, as the author.

8. How long we keep it

Job and invoice records are kept for seven years, which is the retention period Australian tax law requires for business records.

Recovered data. Where we recover files for you, they are handed over on your own drive or media. Any working copy we held during the job is securely deleted once you confirm you have your files, and in any case within 14 days of collection.

Device passwords given to us for a repair are not written down or stored, and are discarded when the job is finished.

9. Keeping it secure

Customer records are held on systems that we control and that are protected by passwords and device encryption. Access is limited to the people who need it to do the work.

Paper records, where any exist, are kept at our Canning Vale premises and are not left accessible to customers or visitors.

If a data breach ever occurred that was likely to cause you serious harm, we would tell you and take the steps required of us.

10. Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it.

Message us on WhatsApp on 0452 573 701. We respond within a few days, and we do not charge for these requests.

Note that we cannot delete records we are legally required to retain, such as tax invoices inside the seven year period.

11. Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your information, contact us first. We will investigate and respond to you directly.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can take the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

12. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when what we do changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and the version published here is the one that applies.
