Who This Is For

Three Types of Customers We Build For

You do not need to be a first timer to benefit from a professional build. We get enquiries from all kinds of Perth customers. Here are the three most common situations.

First Time Builder
Bought the Parts. Not Confident Building.
You researched the parts, bought everything, and now the build is sitting in boxes. You want it done right without the risk of damaging something expensive. Drop it off and we handle everything.
Upgrader
Adding a New GPU, RAM or CPU Cooler.
You have an existing system and want to add or swap components. GPU swaps, RAM upgrades, cooler installs, new case transfers. We fit it, update drivers and confirm it is running at full speed.
Stuck Mid Build
Started Building but Something Is Wrong.
No POST, boot loops, display not detected. PC building problems are common and diagnosing them takes experience. Bring it in and we identify the fault and get it running.

Why It Matters

What Goes Wrong When a Gaming PC Is Built Incorrectly

A gaming PC build looks straightforward on a YouTube tutorial. In reality there are a dozen small mistakes that are easy to make on a first build and some of them are expensive to fix after the fact.

Bent CPU pins. LGA socket CPUs like Intel 12th, 13th and 14th gen have hundreds of pins on the motherboard socket. Dropping the CPU or misaligning it can bend pins. Straightening them requires skill and patience. Getting it wrong means a dead motherboard. We handle CPU installation carefully every time.

Thermal paste applied incorrectly. Too much thermal paste squeezes out onto the motherboard. Too little causes hot spots and thermal throttling. The correct amount and pattern for each cooler is not always obvious and varies by CPU die size. We apply it correctly and verify temperatures after the build.

RAM not seated properly. DDR5 and DDR4 require firm pressure to seat fully. Half inserted RAM causes no POST or random crashes. The correct slots for two sticks vary by motherboard. We verify seating and confirm the correct slots from the manual for each board.

XMP and EXPO not enabled. When you buy 6000MHz DDR5 RAM, it runs at 4800MHz by default until XMP or EXPO is enabled in the BIOS. Most builds handed back without a proper BIOS setup are running RAM at well below its rated speed. We enable XMP or EXPO on every build as standard.

PBO not configured. Ryzen CPUs run conservatively out of the box. Enabling Precision Boost Overdrive in the BIOS allows the CPU to boost higher within safe thermal limits. On a well cooled system this can deliver up to 15 percent more performance at zero additional cost. We configure PBO on every AMD Ryzen build.

Cable management done badly. A case with cables draped across the GPU and blocking airflow runs hotter and looks worse. Proper cable routing behind the motherboard tray improves airflow and makes future upgrades far easier. We route every cable properly before closing the case.

Full Assembly and Cable Management
Every component installed correctly, cables routed behind the motherboard tray, nothing blocking airflow. The inside looks as good as the outside.
Thermal Paste Applied Correctly
Correct amount for the CPU die size. Temperatures checked after the build to confirm the cooler is performing as expected.
XMP and EXPO Enabled
Your RAM runs at its advertised speed, not the default JEDEC speed. A $250 DDR5 kit should actually run at 6000MHz.
PBO Tuning for AMD Ryzen
Precision Boost Overdrive configured so your Ryzen CPU boosts to its full potential within safe thermal and power limits.
All Drivers Installed
GPU drivers, chipset drivers, audio, LAN, Bluetooth. All current and properly installed before handover.
Benchmark Report at Handover
Before and after results using Cinebench, 3DMark or equivalent. You can see the performance numbers the build is hitting.

Your Choice

You Bring the Parts or We Help Source Them

We work both ways. Most customers bring their own parts purchased from Scorptec, Centrecom, Mwave or Amazon. Some customers want advice on what to buy first. Both are fine.

Also Available
We Help Source the Parts
Not sure what to buy or want a second opinion before spending money? We offer a parts consultation for $30 where we put together a parts list matched to your budget and use case. We recommend based on real performance per dollar, not brand sponsorships. The $30 consultation fee is waived if you go ahead with the full turnkey build with us.
$30 consultation Waived with full turnkey build. No obligation.
Compatibility check included at no charge. Before we start any build we verify that all parts are compatible with each other. If there is a clearance issue with a cooler, a RAM compatibility issue with the motherboard, or a PSU that is undersized for the GPU, we tell you before doing anything.

Build Process

How Every Gaming PC Build Works at FixMyPC Perth

Parts Check on Arrival
We go through every component against your build list and confirm compatibility. Cooler clearance, RAM compatibility with the motherboard QVL, PSU wattage against GPU TDP, M.2 slot availability. Any issues are flagged immediately so you can sort replacements before we start, not after.
Full Assembly and Cable Management
CPU installed with correct thermal paste, cooler mounted and torqued evenly, RAM in the correct slots, GPU seated and power connectors attached, storage installed, all case headers connected and routed. Cables are dressed behind the motherboard tray with ties. The airflow path from intake to exhaust is kept clear.
POST, BIOS Setup and XMP
First boot outside the case to confirm POST before closing everything up. BIOS updated if a newer version is available. XMP or EXPO enabled so RAM runs at its rated speed. Boot order set. Secure Boot and TPM configured for Windows 11 compatibility. PBO enabled and configured for AMD Ryzen builds.
Windows Install and All Drivers
Windows 10 or 11 installed from official Microsoft media. GPU drivers installed from the manufacturer directly, not through Windows Update. Chipset, audio, LAN and any other hardware specific drivers installed and verified. Windows Update run to completion. Included in full turnkey builds and available as a $40 add on for basic assembly.
Stress Test and Benchmark Report
CPU and GPU stress tested under full load to confirm temperatures are within safe limits and the system is stable. Cinebench and 3DMark run to produce baseline performance numbers. The benchmark report is handed to you at collection so you have a reference for the system's performance from day one.

Why FixMyPC Perth

Why Perth Gamers Choose Us to Build Their PC

There are people who will build your PC for $50 and hand it back without enabling XMP, without PBO configured, with cables draped across the GPU, and with a generic Windows install using outdated drivers. That is not what we do.

Real Perth Customers

What Customers Say About Our Gaming PC Builds

★★★★★

Bought all my parts from Scorptec but was too nervous to build it myself after reading about bent CPU pins. Dropped it off and got it back the next day fully built, benchmarked and running perfectly. Worth every cent.

Jordan H. — Canning Vale
★★★★★

Had a Ryzen 7800X3D build and specifically asked them to set up PBO properly. They did exactly that, showed me the Cinebench scores before and after tuning, and explained what they changed in the BIOS. Really impressed.

Liam C. — Armadale
★★★★★

Built the PC myself and could not get it to POST. Brought it in and they found a bent pin in the AM5 socket within 20 minutes. Fixed it and had it running the same afternoon. Saved me from buying a new motherboard.

Tyler M. — Willetton
★★★★★

Cable management is immaculate. I was expecting it to look average but the inside of my case looks better than most builds I see on YouTube. Temps are great and the benchmark report confirmed it is running exactly where it should be.

Sam P. — Cockburn

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Labour starts at $120 for basic assembly. Our most popular tier is the full turnkey build at $200, which includes clean cable management, XMP and EXPO enabled, PBO tuning for Ryzen, Windows and all drivers installed, stress test and a benchmark report. Custom water cooling builds start at $300 and are quoted per build based on loop complexity. Parts cost is separate to all labour prices.
Yes. Most of our customers bring parts they purchased from Scorptec, Centrecom, Mwave, Amazon or elsewhere. Bring everything including the case, motherboard, CPU, RAM, GPU, storage, PSU and cooler, and we handle the rest. We check compatibility on arrival and flag any issues before starting.
PBO stands for Precision Boost Overdrive. It is an AMD feature that allows Ryzen CPUs to boost higher and for longer within safe thermal and power limits. Out of the box, Ryzen CPUs run conservatively. With PBO properly configured on a well cooled system, you can see up to 15 percent more performance for free. We enable and configure it on every AMD Ryzen build as part of our standard process. It applies to Ryzen only. Intel builds have their own performance settings which we also configure.
A basic assembly takes 2 to 3 hours. A full turnkey build including Windows, drivers, PBO tuning and benchmarking takes 4 to 6 hours depending on the complexity of the build. Most builds dropped off in the morning are ready for collection the same afternoon or next morning. We will give you an accurate estimate when you drop off.
We test components as we go through the build. If something is DOA we identify it, stop the build and contact you immediately. The warranty on the faulty part is between you and the retailer you purchased from. We advise you on the return or replacement process and refit the replacement component at no additional labour charge once you have the new part.
Yes. We offer a parts consultation for $30 where we put together a parts list matched to your budget and use case. We cover CPU, motherboard, RAM, GPU, storage, PSU and case. We recommend based on actual performance per dollar with no brand bias. The $30 is waived if you go ahead with the full turnkey build with us. Message us on WhatsApp with your budget and what you want to do with the PC to get started.
Yes. No POST, boot loops and display not detected are common issues that require systematic diagnosis. Bring the build in and we identify the fault. Common causes include RAM not fully seated, incorrect RAM slots, a loose GPU power connector, bent CPU socket pins, a failed component or a BIOS that needs updating for newer CPU support. Diagnosis and resolution starts from $80 depending on what is found.
