Three Types of Customers We Build For
You do not need to be a first timer to benefit from a professional build. We get enquiries from all kinds of Perth customers. Here are the three most common situations.
What Goes Wrong When a Gaming PC Is Built Incorrectly
A gaming PC build looks straightforward on a YouTube tutorial. In reality there are a dozen small mistakes that are easy to make on a first build and some of them are expensive to fix after the fact.
Bent CPU pins. LGA socket CPUs like Intel 12th, 13th and 14th gen have hundreds of pins on the motherboard socket. Dropping the CPU or misaligning it can bend pins. Straightening them requires skill and patience. Getting it wrong means a dead motherboard. We handle CPU installation carefully every time.
Thermal paste applied incorrectly. Too much thermal paste squeezes out onto the motherboard. Too little causes hot spots and thermal throttling. The correct amount and pattern for each cooler is not always obvious and varies by CPU die size. We apply it correctly and verify temperatures after the build.
RAM not seated properly. DDR5 and DDR4 require firm pressure to seat fully. Half inserted RAM causes no POST or random crashes. The correct slots for two sticks vary by motherboard. We verify seating and confirm the correct slots from the manual for each board.
XMP and EXPO not enabled. When you buy 6000MHz DDR5 RAM, it runs at 4800MHz by default until XMP or EXPO is enabled in the BIOS. Most builds handed back without a proper BIOS setup are running RAM at well below its rated speed. We enable XMP or EXPO on every build as standard.
PBO not configured. Ryzen CPUs run conservatively out of the box. Enabling Precision Boost Overdrive in the BIOS allows the CPU to boost higher within safe thermal limits. On a well cooled system this can deliver up to 15 percent more performance at zero additional cost. We configure PBO on every AMD Ryzen build.
Cable management done badly. A case with cables draped across the GPU and blocking airflow runs hotter and looks worse. Proper cable routing behind the motherboard tray improves airflow and makes future upgrades far easier. We route every cable properly before closing the case.
You Bring the Parts or We Help Source Them
We work both ways. Most customers bring their own parts purchased from Scorptec, Centrecom, Mwave or Amazon. Some customers want advice on what to buy first. Both are fine.
How Every Gaming PC Build Works at FixMyPC Perth
Gaming PC Build Labour. Three Clear Tiers.
Pick the tier that matches what you need. All parts and components are separate to the labour cost quoted below.
Why Perth Gamers Choose Us to Build Their PC
There are people who will build your PC for $50 and hand it back without enabling XMP, without PBO configured, with cables draped across the GPU, and with a generic Windows install using outdated drivers. That is not what we do.
- PBO tuned on every AMD Ryzen build. Most builders skip this. We configure it on every Ryzen system so your CPU runs at its actual performance ceiling, not the conservative default.
- XMP and EXPO always enabled. Your DDR4 or DDR5 kit runs at its rated speed. Not the stock JEDEC default that makes a 6000MHz kit run at 4800MHz.
- Benchmark report handed to you at collection. You leave with documented performance numbers. You know exactly what your build is capable of from day one.
- Clean cable management every time. Not just pushed to the side. Routed behind the tray, tied and secured. Airflow is maintained and the build looks the way it should.
- Compatibility checked before we start. If there is a clearance issue, a RAM incompatibility or a wattage problem, you hear about it before the build starts, not after something does not fit.
- Honest parts advice with no commission. We do not push specific brands or retailers. If you ask us what to buy, we tell you what actually performs best for the money at the time you are asking.
- DOA parts identified at the build stage. We test each component as we go. If something is dead on arrival we identify it and advise on the return process before closing the case.
- 30 day labour warranty. If anything related to the build itself goes wrong within 30 days, we fix it at no charge.
What Customers Say About Our Gaming PC Builds
Bought all my parts from Scorptec but was too nervous to build it myself after reading about bent CPU pins. Dropped it off and got it back the next day fully built, benchmarked and running perfectly. Worth every cent.
Had a Ryzen 7800X3D build and specifically asked them to set up PBO properly. They did exactly that, showed me the Cinebench scores before and after tuning, and explained what they changed in the BIOS. Really impressed.
Built the PC myself and could not get it to POST. Brought it in and they found a bent pin in the AM5 socket within 20 minutes. Fixed it and had it running the same afternoon. Saved me from buying a new motherboard.
Cable management is immaculate. I was expecting it to look average but the inside of my case looks better than most builds I see on YouTube. Temps are great and the benchmark report confirmed it is running exactly where it should be.
