Terms and Conditions
The terms that apply to every job we take on.
These terms apply to every service provided by FixMyPC Perth (ABN 67 645 153 359) of 7 Barraberry Retreat, Canning Vale WA 6155. By booking a repair, dropping off a device or accepting a quote, you agree to them. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
1. Services we provide
FixMyPC Perth provides computer and laptop repair, diagnostics, hardware upgrades, virus and malware removal, data recovery, networking, gaming PC assembly, remote support and business IT support to residential and small business customers across Perth, Western Australia.
Most work is carried out in house. For certain specialist services, such as microsoldering, board level component repair and advanced or forensic data recovery, we may send your device to a trusted specialist where that is the best or only option. If a job is outsourced we tell you in your quote before any work begins, so you always know who is handling your device. Nothing else is outsourced.
MacBook and Surface devices. We accept both for diagnostics, virus removal, data recovery, software work and everything else listed on our pricing page. We do not carry out screen or battery replacement on MacBook or Surface devices.
We may decline a job if the repair is outside our scope, or if we believe the cost of repair is not in your interest. If that happens we tell you and charge nothing beyond the diagnostic fee.
2. Pricing and the flat fee
Diagnostic and repair is a flat $120. That single fee covers finding the fault, all repair labour and the warranty. It is not an hourly rate.
The diagnostic fee is charged whether or not you go ahead with the repair. Diagnosing the fault is the work, and it takes the same time either way. You will know the full cost before anything beyond the diagnostic happens.
Fixed-scope services, such as virus removal, a password reset or an SSD upgrade, are charged at the published price for that service rather than the $120 fee. Every price is listed on our pricing page.
The price we quote is the price you pay. We do not revise a quote upward once work is underway. If we find that your machine needs a new part, we tell you what the part is and what it costs before we order or fit it. Labour to fit it is already covered by your original price.
All prices include GST, on parts as well as labour. A tax invoice is issued for every job.
A written quote is valid for six months from the date we issue it.
3. Payment
Payment is due on collection, once the repair is complete. We accept:
- Cash
- Bank transfer, with BSB and account number on your invoice
- PayID
We do not accept card payments, PayPal or buy now pay later services. There is no surcharge on any payment method.
Deposits. No deposit is required for standard repairs. Where a job needs a part ordered in, we ask for a deposit covering the cost of that part, or another amount agreed with you, before it is ordered. The labour is paid on collection as usual.
If you are paying by transfer before collecting, please allow up to 24 hours for funds to clear.
4. Turnaround and same-day service
Drop off before 2pm and most repairs are ready for collection by 6pm the same day at no extra cost. This is a target we hit most of the time, not a guarantee. If we cannot make it we tell you early rather than late.
Jobs that require a part to be ordered take longer, and we give you a realistic timeline before you leave.
Where you need work completed outside normal turnaround, for example finishing after 6pm on the same day, the priority same-day booking fee of $20 applies. It is always agreed with you in advance.
5. Warranty
All labour carries a 30 day labour warranty. If the same fault returns within 30 days of collection, we reassess and remedy it at no additional labour cost. Some services carry an extended warranty instead, and where that applies the period is stated on your quote and invoice.
The warranty covers the specific fault we repaired. It does not cover:
- New or unrelated faults that appear after the repair
- Physical damage after collection, including drops and spills
- Problems caused by software you install after the repair
- Faults caused by power surges or other external events
- Reinfection following virus removal, where the device is re-exposed after collection
- Any device opened or worked on by someone else after our repair
Parts we supply, such as SSDs and RAM, carry their own manufacturer warranty in addition to our labour warranty. Parts you supply yourself are not warranted by us, although our labour to fit them still is.
Where a repair has been outsourced to a specialist, the warranty offered by that specialist applies and we help you coordinate any claim.
6. No fix, no fee on data recovery
Both data recovery services, the $149 failing drive service and the $249 dead drive service, are no fix, no fee. If we cannot recover your files, you pay nothing for the attempt.
If we attend your premises rather than you bringing the drive to us, the $35 call-out fee still applies whether or not recovery succeeds, because that fee covers the visit rather than the result.
Recovery outcomes depend on the physical condition of the drive. We give you our assessment of the likely outcome before starting, and we do not promise a result we cannot deliver.
7. On-site visits
We are a workshop rather than a mobile service, but we do come to you. A flat $35 call-out fee applies on top of the service price, on every service, charged per visit. Where a job requires a second visit, the fee applies to each.
Networking and other on-site work is charged at the same price as it would be in the workshop. The call-out is the only difference.
Please make sure someone over 18 is present for the duration of the visit, and that there is safe access, working power and, where relevant, a working internet connection. If we arrive and cannot get access, the call-out fee may still apply.
8. Remote support
Remote sessions run over AnyDesk at $45 per half hour, with the first half hour as the minimum charge. Time under 20 minutes into a new block is rounded down, over 20 minutes is rounded up.
During a session you grant temporary access to your screen and device for the agreed task only. You stay present and in control, and can end the connection at any time. Access ends when the session ends.
9. Your device, your data
Your device holds your personal information and we treat it that way.
- We access only the files, folders and accounts necessary to complete the repair
- Some repairs, such as virus removal or a Windows reinstall, require your device password. It is used for the repair only, and is never stored or shared
- We do not browse, copy or keep personal files, photos, documents or emails beyond what the job requires
- We never sell or share your information
How we handle the information you give us, as opposed to what is on your device, is set out in our Privacy Policy.
10. Backups and liability
We take all reasonable care with your device. Repair work does carry risk, particularly where a machine is already failing.
Please back up your data before dropping off a device. If you are not sure how, ask and we will help.
Subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, FixMyPC Perth is not liable for:
- Data loss from a drive that had already failed or was failing on arrival
- Data loss where you were advised to back up beforehand and did not
- Damage to a device that was already structurally compromised at drop off
- Data on a device left uncollected past the 60 day period below
If our work causes unintended damage, we deal with it fairly and directly with you. Where a job was outsourced to a specialist as disclosed in your quote, we help you coordinate the claim.
11. Uncollected devices
When your repair is finished we contact you by WhatsApp or phone. Please collect your device within a reasonable time.
If a device is not collected within 60 days of the completion notice, and we have been unable to reach you after repeated attempts, we reserve the right to dispose of it lawfully, which may include recycling or donation. We always make several contact attempts first.
If you need longer, let us know and we will hold the device for as long as you need.
12. Cancellations and refunds
You can cancel at any point before work begins and you pay nothing. Once the diagnostic has been carried out, the $120 fee is payable whether or not you proceed.
Where a part has been ordered specifically for your job, any deposit covering that part is not refundable once the part has been ordered.
None of this affects your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including your right to a repair, replacement or refund where a service is not carried out with due care and skill.
13. Business IT support
Managed plans start at $149 per month. Plans are billed monthly with a minimum term of one month, no lock-in contract, and 14 days notice to cancel.
Support hours, response times and what each plan includes are set out on the business IT support page, and are confirmed in writing before a plan starts.
14. Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to have services remedied if they are not carried out with due care and skill or within a reasonable time.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under that law. Where we are permitted to limit our liability, it is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.
15. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published on this page on the day you book. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, and the courts of Western Australia have jurisdiction over any dispute.
